The short version: the income, deductions, and tax details you enter stay on your device. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't use analytics or tracking. The sections below explain exactly what is collected and why.
This Privacy Policy describes how Taxnest ("Taxnest", "we", "us", or "the App") handles information when you use our iOS application. By using the App you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique account identifier and, depending on your choices, your name and email address. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth on our behalf. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, we only receive Apple's relay address.
Tax and financial data (stored on your device)
The data that powers the App โ your filing status, state, estimated income, the payments you log, deductions, and quarterly-payment records โ is stored locally on your device in an on-device database. This information is not transmitted to or stored on our servers, and we cannot see it. Deleting the App removes this data from your device.
AI Assistant queries
If you use the AI Assistant, the question you type is sent to our server and then to OpenAI to generate an answer. To make answers relevant, we include an anonymized numeric snapshot (for example: projected income, state, filing status, and total set aside). This snapshot contains no name, email, or account identifier. Please avoid typing sensitive personal information into the Assistant.
Subscriptions and purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to verify your subscription status. We never receive or store your full payment-card details โ those are handled entirely by Apple.
Tax reference data
The App downloads current tax brackets, rates, and deadlines ("Tax Config") from our server so calculations stay accurate. This is a one-way download and does not include any of your data.
What we do not collect
No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics, no location tracking, and no sale of personal information.
2. How we use information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To provide the App's core features and calculations (performed locally on your device).
- To generate answers when you use the AI Assistant.
- To verify your subscription and provide access to paid features.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the App and prevent abuse.
3. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers, each only for the purpose listed:

These providers process data under their own privacy policies and agreements. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
4. Data storage, location, and retention
- Your tax and financial data is retained on your device until you delete it in the App or uninstall the App.
- Account information is retained while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see "Your rights").
- Our service providers may process data on servers located in the United States or other countries. By using the App you consent to such processing.
5. Your rights and choices
- Access & edit: your tax profile and entries are editable directly in the App.
- Delete local data: remove individual entries in the App, or uninstall the App to erase all on-device data.
- Delete your account: contact us to permanently delete your account and associated authentication records.
- Manage subscription: manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings.
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights such as access, correction, deletion, and portability. To exercise any of these, email us at the address below.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and platform security features, to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but keeping your most sensitive financial data on your device โ rather than on our servers โ meaningfully reduces risk.
7. Children's privacy
Taxnest is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
